mmunication and Journalism, University of Pune is celebrating its Golden Jubilee year from Feb. 2013-14, and it's a wonderful coincidence that this Foreign Workshop of CUEJ was planned in the same year. We were hosting such a workshop for the first time and no doubt there were several questions in our mind. But we were certain that this will be an interesting and educative experience for our students.
The topics chosen for the workshop provided ample opportunity for reporting about them. Working on these topics with French students was a major learning for Indian students. They had to look at the reality from an outsider's point of view and judge its merits and demerits accordingly. Though it was hard initially, once the Indian students could see the other viewpoint, they were amazed at the new perspectives they gained in the process.
The huge difference in working styles was noted by everyone. The emphasis on research, digging deep for facts, working long hours in soaring temperatures were the teachings we teachers could not have ever given our students. Now it will be easier for us to make them work harder!
Working with the French students was a voluntary activity for our students. Somehow those who volunteered were primarily from the group of students that is planning to work in Marathi later, so their English language skills were limited. This was also the group that represents rural India or diverse socio-economic sections of the society. So this diversity was useful to the French students and the experience of working in English was useful to the Indian students.
Our department is housed in an old building without any modern conveniences and major repairs were going on in the campus. But the visitors did not complain and were always cheerful and friendly. As the head of department I was also happy that everything went off smoothly, and the group returned safely to Delhi. These two weeks have left lasting memories in everyone's mind and we heartily thank CUEJ for that.

In the past two decades or so the world has changed in more ways than one. Education is no exception. The advent of internet and the proliferation of information and communication technologies (ICTs) has not only made the knowledge and information widely accessible but also posed new challenges for the education systems and pedagogues.
Though faculty and students'exchange programmes between leading educational institutions are not new they have acquired fresh importance. For teachers and students it has now become imperative to step out of their cozy environs. In this background the visit of CUEJ students and faculty members is quite significant for the students and teachers of AJK MCRC.
Though AJK MCRC is already running a very successful students’exchange programme with Sciences Po Paris for the past several years, this is for the first time that we have received French students in such a large number and that too for the whole month. I am pretty sure that the students of both the educational institutions will find this event quite useful and I am very optimistic to develop a students' and faculty exchange programme with CUEJ.
We are celebrating thirty years of the establishment of AJK MCRC this year thus the publication of this magazine, web and video projects have acquired a special significance. For the past couple of years we have been actively forging partnerships with the leading universities of the world such as York University, Canada and the University of Westminster UK.
With this all project CUEJ has now become part of that list too. Stories are jointly done by the students of MCRC and CUEJ giving a new dimension to international journalism. I congratulate all those who are part of this publication in one way or the other.

Depuis près de vingt ans, les étudiants du CUEJ, l’Ecole de journalisme de l’Université de Strasbourg, terminent leur formation par une immersion dans un pays étranger. Pendant quatre ou cinq semaines, il leur faut tenter de comprendre un peu d’un territoire dont ils ignorent beaucoup, détricoter les idées reçues, se défier des conclusions hâtives.
Rien de cela n’est possible sans l’aide des étudiants et enseignants du pays d’accueil qui guident ceux du CUEJ dans la recherche de récits sur lesquels mettre des images et des mots. Que nos deux partenaires de cette première plongée en Inde, le Mass Communication Research Center (MCRC) de l’Université Jamia Millia Islamia, à New Delhi, et le département de journalisme de l’Université de Pune soient ici chaleureusement remerciés pour leur accueil, leur écoute, leurs conseils, leur adhésion à notre projet et les moyens mis à notre disposition. Ceci est le résultat de notre travail commun.
Outre ce magazine, à Pune et à Delhi, les étudiants de nos universités ont produit une application pour tablette, un webdoc radio et un webdoc vidéo que vous invitons à découvrir sur cuej.info.

Aujourd'hui, le chantier a repris. Lavasa se targue désormais de « développer une région oubliée par les autorités » tout en « préservant l'environnement ». Chaque jour, la nouvelle ville de Dasve se concrétise un peu plus, et chaque jour, le début de la construction de Mugaon se rapproche. Lorsqu'on demande au porte-parole de Lavasa l'agenda des travaux, il répond, sûr de lui : « Mugaon sera prête en 2015. » Et attirera touristes et investisseurs. Un rêve ne connaît pas d'obstacles.
